Julia von Leliwa ist Modedesignerin und Kostümbildnerin.
Sie arbeitete als Modedesignerin mit renommierten Designern wie Viktor&Rolf sowie für das Modehaus Balenciaga.
2009 nahm sie an Robert Wilsons Sommerprogramm am Watermill Center in New York teil, und war seither an vielfältigen Produktionen wie The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic oder Grace for Grace mit ihm beteiligt. Zuletzt entwarf sie die Kostüme für Wilsons Produktionen: Pushkin Fairy Tales am Theater der Nationen in Moskau in 2015, Luther dancing with the gods mit dem Rundfunkchor Berlin in 2017, Le Trouvère für das Verdi Festival in Parma in 2018.
Für Regisseur Tilman Hecker entwarf Julia von Leliwa 2016 Kostüme für die experimentelle Performance Midnight, uraufgeführt am Radialsystem V in Berlin und für die Oper I Capuleti e i Montecchi am Badischen Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
2011/2012 war Julia von Leliwa Stipendiatin an der Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart und anschliessend Kuratorin des Künstlerprogramms Hombroich: Summer Fellows. Auf Einladung des Böhmischen Dorfes, Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft für Literatur & Kunst in Hombroich, entstand 2017 die Performance Ducks and Drakes (to play), eine Zusammenarbeit mit den Künstlerinnen Elke Luyten, Kira Alker und dem Lyriker Oswald Egger.
J Für ihre Recherchen und Konzepte zu Künstlernetzwerken im Iran erhielt sie Förderungen des Goethe-Instituts und vom Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa).
Julia von Leliwa lehrte als Dozentin und Referentin an zahlreichen deutschen und internationalen Kunst- und Kulturinstitutionen.

For her research and concepts on artist networks in Iran she received funding from the Goethe-Institut and the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa).
Julia von Leliwa was a lecturer and speaker at numerous German and international art and cultural institutions.
